RF waveform distortion isn't an issue with CW or FM but where amplitude variations (SSB and AM) carry the modulation all you'll hear is garble. NXN makes a good case but didn't explain Class C, maybe the highest DC input watt for RF output watt amp there is but the output waveform is highly distorted. Most CB amps are "basement workshop jobs" with few exceptions, frankly I wouldn't touch anything that Dave made, or Texas Star, everything is bigger and better in Texas, hogwash! Like we've been saying all along, a poorly designed amp puts out a dirty, easily recognized signal, lots of distortion and splatter. From a realistic standpoint technical considerations are paramount, "running power" with a clean signal nobody knows you have an amp unless nearby rigs start emitting smoke or a guy 100 miles away gives you a "wall to wall and treetop tall" signal report. Oh no, here we go again forgetting on 11M CB anything they can get away with is considered "legal".

Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate just purchase it.įor M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios.

Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

Sure, it may not be stellar power performer - the design puts this into a category by itself - sure - it's gonna' have a little more heat, a little less power, but it has a cleaner output - doesn't make it better dollar per watt wise, it makes it cleaner and better in the Cost of that Watt in the usability and lifetime use in-between Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software: It can explain the reason for the discoloration of the power resistor - chatty people, SSB for Skip - having to repeat the directions to the Doughnut shop - repeatedly - for those needing a sugar rush washed down with caffeine - wear and tear - but mentioning the requirement and the proper means to drive it - certainly applies to and for anyone. This amp was designed to run low, not as a poor performer, but done up for long-term survival in conditions that may be less than ideal. The Amp is not made for "10 ohm smoke" it uses 18 ohm - so the Transistor it's paired with, pushes the Base a little higher up from Class C.
